Learn
Learning that supports the way you want to live
Many people want to live and work in ways that give back to the land, to each other and to future generations. But knowing where to start or how to keep going is not always easy. There is no single right path, and most of us need more than ideas. We need space to learn, reflect and try things out with others.
At A Wild Life we create spaces to explore what regenerative living looks like in practice. Our courses and workshops are collaborative and grounded. They are designed for people who want to live with more care and connection, whether you are just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding.
Learning shapes how we see the world, not just what we know. In What permaculture gave me that my professional training didn’t, Marianne reflects on how permaculture influenced her way of learning, relating and practising, alongside the more formal training she had already received.

Our Approach To Learning
We offer learning that is:
- Experiential: learning through doing, observing and reflecting
- Contextual: shaped by the season, the setting and the group
- Mutual: grounded in exchange, listening and shared discovery
- Practical: focused on skills, tools and real life application
- Regenerative: nurturing wellbeing, connection and resilience
- Embodied: movement, awareness, empathy, presence, vitality
We draw from permaculture ethics, systems thinking and the circular economy. We weave in an embodied approach using movement and body awareness to deepen insight and resilience. We explore how language, habits and culture shape our actions. Our courses offer diverse learning experiences, understanding and catering for neurodiversity, and supporting each person to take action that creates change. We blend practical, real-world knowledge and skills with these approaches, supporting people who want to make change in ways that are meaningful and sustainable.
Topics include conscious consumption, climate action, community care, design, growing, nutrition and personal resilience. There is no fixed route or checklist. We meet people where they are and support them to take their next steps.

Bespoke courses
We also offer bespoke courses tailored to the needs of organisations, community groups, businesses and educational settings. Working collaboratively, we design practical, engaging learning experiences that draw on the diverse expertise of our team. For example, we recently developed a one-day permaculture course for , exploring how community gardens can apply permaculture principles within their own spaces. Specialist options can include topics such as regenerative tree design and ecology, community engagement, sustainable systems thinking, and practical land-based skills, shaped around the goals and interests of each group.
We can also bring courses directly to your own space. If you have a large garden, community site or outdoor space and are happy to host others, we can design a course around your land, using the learning process to help develop ideas and designs for your own project at the same time. In many cases, participant fees can help cover the costs of running the course, creating an accessible and collaborative way to gain professional input while sharing the experience with others.
